Wystar Cavaliers was born from our love of the performance sport of obedience,
our admiration of the Cavalier breed and our adoration of a little ruby
boy, Cricketeer Jiminy, who we named Wyatt. We had so much success with
our first obedience Cavalier, William, we wanted to pursue obedience with
a second dog. Our quest led us to Joyce Smith of Cricketeer Kennels. Joyce
is one of a few people to have ever achieved a UDX title with a Cavalier.
She introduced us to our Wyatt and we knew instantly that not only was
Wyatt smart, but he was handsome too! Wyatt achieved an AKC breed Championship
before the age of two and following that honor he received Obedience and
Therapy Dog titles. Here at Wystar Cavaliers our philosophy is simple—produce
the healthiest and happiest Cavaliers possible. Many of our dogs have received
their championships in obedience and confirmation—but even if they did
not--they are all champions in our eyes.
As we mentioned one of our main goals is to produce the healthiest Cavaliers
possible. In order to do so we follow a strict breeding protocol that requires
all of our dogs, with breeding potential, to receive a comprehensive battery
of health-related examinations. These examinations are performed by Board
Certified Cardiologists and Opthalmologists. We also have the Orthopedic
Foundation for Animals (OFA) certify the condition of our breeding dogs’
hips and patellas. Every effort is made to use older, fully-tested dogs,
with priority going to the ones from long-lived dog lines. We are associated
with the Veterinary Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania where all
of our Cavaliers have their yearly heart check-ups.
The happiness of our dogs is another main goal. Our Cavaliers live in our
house. They are NOT kennel dogs. We live on three acres (two fenced in).
Our Cavaliers have plenty of room to romp, exercise and chase butterflies.
At Wyatt’s Acres our puppies are raised “underfoot” and they are exposed
to different situations so they may achieve their potential. We occasionally
have puppies for sale to select homes. All of our puppies are sold on the
basis of the perspective owners’ willingness to sign a spay/neuter agreement.
We inform all owners of our vaccine and
feeding
protocol and the owners must attend a puppy training class. We are always
available to our puppy
buyers
by phone or email. If you would like additional information on a Wystar
puppy please feel free to

Wystar focuses on breeding wholecolors (rubies and black and tans), but
occasionally we have parti-color puppies (blenheim and tri-color). We enjoy
the wholecolors and feel that these colors fit our lifestyle the best.
We also enjoy watching our performance dogs and know the importance of
them being clear of heart, eye, hip dysplasia and patella luxiation.
The owners Ginny and Pam both have Master’s degrees in Education. Ginny
works evenings as a veterinary technician and enjoys both the obedience
and confirmation ring.
Pam works at the University of Pennsylvania in corporate finance and enjoys
showing—especially puppies.
